Athletech Purest Mass Gainer 5.19lb

Top Benefits of Pürest Mass

453 calories, 25g of protein and a full 5g dose of creatine in a 124g serve, about 19 serves to a 2.35kg tub. Two added carbs, both named and both weighed.

Easy To Finish

A Serve You'll Finish

453 calories in a 124g serve - two scoops you can get down on a Tuesday when you're not hungry. Most gainers get thrown out half full. This one is built to be finished.

All-In-One

Three Tubs, One Shake

Protein, carbs and a full 5g dose of creatine usually means three tubs to buy, store and measure. Here they are in one shake, and on shake days your creatine is already done.

Nothing Hidden

Every Source Named

Protein from eight sources: five from milk, plus pea, pumpkin seed and sunflower seed. Both added carbs named and weighed. The amino acid list splits natural from added.

How Pürest Mass Works

Two level 150ml scoops, 124g, into 400-500ml of cold milk or water. Shake for 30 seconds and drink it straight away. Here's what's in that shake: the serve, the two carbs and the creatine.

  • The Creatine

Two Scoops, 453 Calories

124g serve · 25g protein · 453 calories

A gainer can print any calorie number it likes - it just makes the serve bigger to get there. This one fits 453 calories into 124g, a drink you can finish on a day you're not hungry. New to gainers? Start on one level scoop (62g) and build up.

Short straight maltodextrin chains next to one branched SusCarb structure

Two Carbs, Two Shapes

Maltodextrin 45g · SusCarb® 19.1g

Both start out as starch, the same stuff that's in bread, rice and potatoes. Maltodextrin is starch cut into short straight bits: cheap, barely sweet, and it does most of the work. SusCarb® is the same starch left as one big branched piece. It costs us several times what maltodextrin costs, so we printed the grams.

Creatine Already In

Pürest Creatine™ 5,000mg a serve

Every serve carries a full 5g of creatine monohydrate, the same amount as the tub of creatine on your shelf. On shake days, that's a scoop you don't need. Already take creatine? Skip it on shake days. A half serve gives you 2.5g.

Read The Label. That's The Pitch.

Most gainers ask you to take their word for it. This one prints the working. Both added carbs named and weighed, 25g of protein from eight sources, a full 5g of creatine, and all nine essential amino acids - what the protein brings and what we added, in separate columns. Take the gainer off your shelf and see if you can find two carb numbers on it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pürest Mass?

Pürest Mass is a 5.19lb (2.35kg) mass gainer. One 124g serve - two level 150ml scoops - gives you 453 calories, 25g of protein and a full 5g dose of creatine, with about 19 serves to a tub. It comes in Creamy Chocolate and Creamy Vanilla.

What's actually in it?

Per serve: 25g of protein from eight sources (whey protein concentrate, whole milk powder, buttermilk powder, sweet whey powder and whey protein isolate, plus pea, pumpkin seed and sunflower seed protein); 45g of maltodextrin and 19.1g of SusCarb®; 5g of Pürest Creatine™; a 2g added essential amino acid (EAA) blend; and 1 billion CFU of Bacillus coagulans. Contains milk and soy. Each flavour's full panel is in the gallery.

Is it just maltodextrin?

No. Maltodextrin does most of the work, 45g a serve, and it's first on the ingredient list - we're not going to pretend otherwise. Alongside it is 19.1g of SusCarb®, a highly branched cyclic dextrin that was built for sports drinks. Both are named and both are weighed.

Why is there an expensive carb in a gainer?

Because we would rather put it in than print the name and leave it out. SusCarb® is 19.1g of the 64g of carbs we add. It costs several times what maltodextrin costs, and the amount is printed so you can check it.

Where is it made?

Manufactured in New Zealand, from local and imported ingredients.

Do I need a gainer?

Not if your food already covers what you need. This is for the days it doesn't, when training is heavy and eating enough is the harder job.

Is 453 calories enough for a gainer?

A gainer can print any calorie number it likes - it just has to make the serve big enough to get there. We kept the serve at 124g so you can finish it. It's one serve a day, for the days when eating enough is the harder job.

I already take creatine. Do I double up?

Each serve has 5g of creatine in it, which is a full dose on its own. If you take a separate creatine, skip it on the days you have a shake. A half serve gives you 2.5g.

Will it sit heavy?

It's a 124g serve in 400-500ml, so it is a big drink. If you have bounced off gainers before, start on a half serve, one level scoop at 62g, and build up. You can also split a full serve across two smaller drinks in the same day.

Do the flavours differ?

Calories, protein and creatine are the same in both: 453 calories, 25g of protein and 5g of creatine a serve. The other figures differ slightly between Creamy Chocolate and Creamy Vanilla, so each flavour has its own nutrition panel in the gallery.

How do I take it?

Put 400-500ml of cold milk or water in a 700ml shaker. Add two level 150ml scoops (124g). Shake for 30 seconds and drink it straight away. One serve a day.

When should I take it?

The tub says one serve, post-workout. It's one serve a day: shake for 30 seconds and drink it straight away.

How many serves are in a tub?

About 19. One serve is 124g, which is two level 150ml scoops.

I'm new to gainers. Where do I start?

Start on half. One level scoop is 62g and gives you 12.5g of protein and 2.5g of creatine. Build up from there.

Why does a scoop weigh a little different?

Powder settles on the way to you, so a scoop can run a little over or under. If you want the serve exact, weigh it.

Who shouldn't take it?

Anyone lactose intolerant, or allergic to milk or soy - check the allergen statement first. Anyone under 18, pregnant or breastfeeding. And anyone already eating enough: you don't need a gainer if food covers it.
